More zu know about Malaya Garbet: you find them together with rhodolite garnets. Found 1970 it was hard to classify the colour, which is different to rhodolite colour. So the new garnets were called malaya, which in Swahili means  "without familiy" or "not belonging to the family".You maybe know malaya garnets under the name "umbalite", after the location in nothern tansania.

Amazing what kind of malaya colors you find for example.. yellowish-orange, brownish-orange and orange when spessartite is contented, to purple rhodolite color in almandine contented gems.
